Temporomandibular Joint
Treating
TMJ disorder.
Your temporomandibular joint is a hinge that connects your jaw to the temporal bones of your skull, allowing you to talk, chew, and yawn. Most people with TMJ issues have relatively mild or periodic symptoms, making it difficult for individuals to realize that something is wrong. If you’ve been experiencing unexplained pain in your neck, jaw, and shoulders, chances are you may be suffering from Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMD).

What causes
TMJ disorder?
There is no one single cause of this disorder, rather there are a handful of factors that contribute to TMJ including:
- Bruxism (teeth grinding or clenching)
- Sleep Apnea
- Stress
- Acute trauma
- Improper bite
- Dislocation of the disc between the ball and socket joint
When left undiagnosed, TMJ can evolve into other serious oral problems and increase tooth sensitivity. Thankfully, our experienced dentists can help you get to the root of the problem and get you the relief you need.
